According to UK paper The Sunday Mirror, Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson was injured in what the paper calls "a high-speed car crash" during filming for the BBC program.

While the accident is tantalizingly described as "a head-on collision," the paper fails to answer the questions that most car-oriented readers will have: who was at fault, who was the other driver [Richard Hammond, perhaps?], and, perhaps most importantly, what vehicle was Clarkson piloting?

Though the condition of the unknown vehicles has not been released at this time, Clarkson, 48, is described by his wife as "fine." According to Clarkson himself, "My right index finger looked like a burst sausage, my left shin was fatter than my thigh and my back felt like someone had driven over it with a pile-driver."

Clarkson says this is his first "serious" accident in 31 years. This is Top Gearapos;s second serious accident, after co-host Richard Hammond survived a 315-mph crash, also during filming.

Reactions to the news has been widely varied. In addition to the usual expressions of sympathy, a significant percentage of responders write comments along the lines of Autoblogapos;s McLovin: "Clarkson is a prick. Too bad he survived."

The Mirror has a rich history with Jeremy Clarkson, running a gleefully-mocking story in March of this year, relating only the fact that "loudmouth" Clarkson had been caught driving 70 MPH while talking on a mobile phone.
